Genesis GV70
How it looks when you see on the street: We have so many good things to say about the GV70, the just right small and substantial SUV. For 2026, it gets some subtle tweaks on the headlights and grille pattern. Over time, the GV70 is only getting better. We first reviewed the Genesis GV70 when it was the new kid on the block after its 2022 introduction. We’ve also spent quality time in the electrified Genesis GV70. We’d like to see a hybrid version of this model, but for now, it’s limited to gas or all-electric powertrains. GV70 is a small SUV set apart by a generous grille and a harmonic stature. In its entirety, it has the feeling of a splurge and is among the standouts in its category. It’s not to be confused with the all--electric Genesis GV60, which is even smaller. We most recently drove the 2026 top-of-the-line GV70 model, the 3.5-liter Sport Prestige gas model.
How it makes you feel when you get in: The interior is well organized and chic. The big shift on the 2026 model is the addition of a 27-inch OLED Instrument Cluster, which delivers a tasteful approach to modern car tech. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included.
The Bang & Olufsson sound system on our test model was fantastic, too. A thoughtful cabin layout uses the space effectively and seats envelope the passenger including a 12-way seat adjustment for the driver. Some cars are harder to give back than others, and we were quite fond of the look and feel of this space and the way passengers feel on longer trips at ease.
The Sport Prestige extras included carbon fiber trim, heated second row seats , rear side sunshades, a head-up display, Nappa Leather and a suede headliner, remote parking assist, and 21-inch wheel and all-season tires. Genesis does a good job of making trim packages loaded and straight forward for the buyer to piece together.
How it drives: Most recently we drove the GV70 3.5-liter Sport Prestige model, which was a genuine delight. The power, the responsive steering, and the solid performance were a hit among multiple drivers in the Le Car family. Genesis has invested in steering and suspension tweaks to enhance driving quality, and its working. The fuel economy in this gas model averaged 21 miles per gallon. By the end of our test period, we were googling and specing out the car for purchase.
We’ve also recently driven past model years of the Genesis GV70 2.5T AWD Advanced, which has the same engine offerings as the larger GV80: The 2.5T model comes with a 300-horsepower four-cylinder and the GV70 packs a 375-horsepower V6. The electrified GV70 is all battery power, using 77.4-kWh battery pack that produces 483-horsepower and zips up to 60 mph in 3.8 second. The electrified GV70 was a snap to charge up in only 20 minutes. It handled in a serene manner.
Space for people and things: Solid cargo space and ample backseat leg room for adults and kiddos.
What you should compare it to: Acura RDX, BMW X3, Lexus NX, Porsche Macan.
How much does it cost: Our latest test vehicle, the GV70 3.5-liter Sport Prestige was priced at $75,225, which also added in an extra mauna red paint job. For contrast, the base level 2.5-liter GV70 starts at $50,480, and the electrified model has a base price of $67,000.
