Chevrolet Trax

How it looks when you see on the street: The Chevrolet Trax is a modest, likable small SUV from GM that checks a lot of boxes that have evaded the Chevy brand. It’s got an attractive price on a budget without appearing chintzy. The exterior, now in its second generation, has a molded physique with deep divots and sculpted angels.

How it makes you feel when you get in: Trax has a pleasant, welcoming interior characterized by a comfortable seating position and good use of interior glass angles. The Trax has an 11-inch LCD display that’s easy and intutive. Its comes with Apple CarPlay and Android mirroring functionality. Our model had extras like a heated steering wheel, keyless open, and power heated mirrors.

How it drives: The engine is 1.2-liter turbo that earned 30 miles per gallon on average and produces 137 hp and 162 lb-ft. It’s a decent ride and offers a bit of driving variety with positive buttons on the gear selector. The optional features on the driver’s confidence package add to its safety features with rear cross traffic, blind zone, and lane change alerts. It also includes rear park assist.

Space for people and things: Solid room for passengers on the inside, which isn’t always easy to pull off in this class of crossovers. It’s tall passenger friendly, too.

What to compare it to: Ford Explorer, Mazda CX-50,

How much does it cost: Our Trax test model had the 1LT trm and the additional driver confidence package, priced at $26,280.
