Nissan Murano

How it looks when you see it on the street: A solid two-row SUV that works hard to put its best face forward, borrowing from the Infiniti brand, and earns accolades for its efforts. The result is lowkey luxury.

How it makes you feel when you get in: Long panels made of wood taper into the screens. The Platinum trim levels up the Murano and our Audi-owning friends who we drove around were super impressed with the rear heated seats. The cabin incorporates 64-color ambient lighting, a leather wrapped steering wheel and two-row sunshades, and rain sensing wipers. Dual zone temperature control regulates the cabin’s comfort level. Our favorite feature was the zero-gravity seats, which kept our bodies comfortable on longer trips.

How it drives: The all-wheel drive model was capable and confident. The 2.0-liter gasoline engine makes 241 horsepower and 260-pound feel of torque. Propilot assist, head-up display, rear and blind spot warning, and lane departure warning add tech and safety to the driving experience. Fuel economy clocks in at 23 mpg.

Space for people and things: Plenty of space for camping gear, suitcases in the 33 cubic feet trunk space with the rear seats up and 64 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.

Where we drove it: From New York to New Hampshire and back. The Murano is a great road trip vehicle that feels effortless and easy to drive and park.

What should you compare it to: Mazda CX70, Honda Passport, Jeep Grand Cherokee

How much does it cost: $53,950
