How it looks when you see on the street: We love the chutzpah of the Ford Mustang Mach-E. It doesn’t look like a Mustang, but what it has is a distinct sporty shape for a small SUV that’s eye catching and oozes out fast-car vibes. For 2025, it adds a heat pump and the option for Blue Cruise, Ford’s assisted driving feature set. New colors including Molten Magenta Metallic, Velocity Blue Metallic, and Desert Sand are available as well as new wheel designes.
How it makes you feel when you get in: like a “smart” car. The interior is all Apple store-like surfaces. If you want your EV to feel post-modern techy, that’s the vibe. The tech projects on a 10.2-inch digital cluster and can be maneuvered through the 15.5-inch touchscreen. Some models offer 5G wifi, and a bevy of apps including the kid’s favorite — Youtube.
How it drives: A profound sense of electric zing. Driving electric cars is becoming an exhilarating experience, and the Mach-E has ample bottom to reach delirious speeds and zip around town. It’s available with two diffferent battery setups - a 70.0-kWh battery or an extended-range 91.0-kWh pack. The GT model we drove made 480 horsepower and 634 pound-feet of torque.In under 4 seconds, we hit 60 miles per hours, which is a blink.
Space for people and things: Ample, for a small family. That’s why Ford went bigger than a traditional Mustang — its the do everything size.
Best Features: The 280 miles of electric range will more than suffice for most daily driving. Who drives more than 280 miles a day on average? For a longer road trip, map out charging stations, which now include Tesla Superchargers, if equipped with the proper adaptor.
What makes it stand out: Everything. There’s no sporty EV in this class quite like it.
What should you compare it to: Tesla Model Y, Volkswagen ID.4, Audi e-tron, Kia Niro.
Pricing: The most recent Mach-E we drove, the GT AWD version, was priced at $61,230. Pricing has been adjusted to be more competitive for 2025. The base select model starts at $39,990.
