Cadillac Vistiq

How it looks when you see on the street: A sharp-looking electric mid-size three row SUV from Cadillac. If you’re familiar with recent Cadillacs, its comparable to the XT6, but calling it the “baby Escalade” is another way to see this ample SUV.

How it makes you feel when you get in: The Visitiq is offered in four trim levels. We experienced its tiptop Platinum edition. The expansive 33-inch screen frames the cabin experience and vivid graphics flash across the screen. Materials in our test felt like a luxury office space – lots of chrome and tasteful wood surfaces juxtaposed against the screens. It can also be outfitted in recycled fabric, too. As audiofiles, we love the 23 speakers with Dolby Atmos.

How it drives: We embraced winter and took the Vistiq skiing in the Catskills Mountains. Our trip coincided with frigid temps and this dented our range and fuel consumption sharply. What should have been an easy drive turned into multiple charging stop situation as the temperature hovered around 5 degrees. In a more temperate climate, the total range and consumption would be about 300 miles and last for several hours of driving. The Vistiq is heavy, and all that power comes in handy to push over 6000 pounds – it’s very fast for its size, zooming from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.6 seconds and the addition of Brembo brakes meant that we felt confident when it came to braking. It had excellent turning abilities thanks to the rear steering axle. Super Cruise on about helps aids long stretches of highway. We used it here and there to let the car take some of the world load on the highway and found it a nice-to-have feature.

Space for people and things: We have a young passenger who prefers the third row. She found it well-suited to her grade school size. The Vistiq has decent seating and storage for its midsize credentials – a nice balane of seating and space.

What to compare it to: Lucid Motors Gravity, BMW IX, Rivian R1S, Volvo EX90

How much does it cost: Our Platinum trim test vehicle was priced at $99,915. It tacked on an extra lacquer of special paint to the base price of $96,945.
