Jeep Gladiator
How it looks when you see on the street: As rough and tumble as it gets, the Jeep Gladiator says let’s play. It looks like a Jeep Wrangle and a pickup truck stitched together and that's basically how it drives, too. The doors even come off. Its oddball look gets tons of attention on the streets, more so than most luxury rides we’ve recently tested — and the kids love it. It is capable of all kinds of off-the-beaten path feats and reminds everyone that it’s fun to go outside and play. The styling is certainly not for everyone.
How it makes you feel when you get in: Gladiator is available in a whopping 11 different trim packages true to the Jeep brand. The boxy exterior carried inside, too, which creates a spartan effect. Our model had the Customer Preferred Package, which added in mirrors, sun visors, a performance hood, LED lights, heated front seats and steering wheel. The technology group package added in an Alpine stereo and Uconnect 5 with a 12.3-inch screen.
How it drives: The Gladiator was equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 that earned 19 miles per gallon in fuel economy. True to its off roading roots, you’ll feel to bumps, but enjoy its springy disposition on bumpy surfaces.
Space for people and things: More than the Wrangler; it’s pick up bed is convenient for storage.
How much does it cost: Most recently we drove the Jeep Gladiator Sport S that was priced at $58,755. The base price is $38,100.
