Honda HR-V

How it looks when you see on the street: The Honda HR-V is the smallest SUV made by Honda, and was redesigned for the 2023 model year with a few slick enhancements to its exterior form. Honda has breathed new life into its products starting with the Civic redesign — and it carries over. Think of it as a baby version of the popular Honda CR-V and is among the most recognizable and popular models on the road.

How it makes you feel when you get in:  It has a new touchscreen that ups the cabin experience. While the HR-V interior isn’t a stand out, it offers a comfortable cabin and delivers on decent quality.

How it drives: Steering is a bit loose. The gasoline engine earns an average 27 miles per gallon. It stays true to Honda’s tried and true rep for a engine that goes, goes, goes.  Plus, it’s certifiably safe. It comes equipped with a series of driver safety features. Seating is a little bare bones for our liking, especially at this price point. Small size shouldn’t compromise on comfort.

Space for people and things:  Good interior wiggle room and creative use of cargo space give it better storage than some of its competitors. It’s super car seat friendly.

How much does it cost: The HR-V is available in three trims LX, Sport, and EX-L. We drove the Honda HR-V AWD EX-L, which starts at about $30,000.
