How it looks when you see on the street
: The Q5 look and feels like an excellent blazer —- tailored, quality, polished, and what you want to dress up a pair of jeans. The exterior has svelte proportions that might not be a standout, but speak the language of refinement.

How it makes you feel when you get in: We’ll keep going with blazer imagery. It’s snug, well-appointed, and made with high-quality material options. The quiet cabin offers a reprieve on noisy roadways. It delivered on a modern lux experience for passengers.

How it drives: A smooth cruiser for running around town. We drove the Q5 on winding roads in upstate New York. It’s not designed to deliver crazy performance feedback, but more subtle, easy to handle luxe performance.

Space for people and things: Decent room for a crossover and adult-size passengers in back compared to previous Audis, though not class leading in this department.

Best Features: Like many crossovers, Audi offers the Q5 in a variety of packages, so you can tailor your taste to the long list of options, which can also be a tad confusing. Our test car featured the Premium Package, which includes the Audi Virtual Cockpit.

What should you compare it to: Porsche Cayenne, Alfa Romeo Stelvio.

How much does it cost: Our test model was priced at $53,040.
